Artist Statement:

Most of my work is done in oil or charcoal. I prefer to prepare my own canvases and panels using the gesso recipes of the old masters.
In all of my paintings and drawings the emphasis is on linear and tonal relationships. I’m particularly interested in how subtle or dramatic changes in color and light impact these relationships.

Training:

I have a classical academic art background, having studied classical drawing and painting  for many years with a former student of Pietro Annigoni and director of the Florence Academy of Art.

Following the methods and practices of generations of great painters, I dedicated many years to intensive studying of old master drawings, paintings, plaster casts of antique sculpture, anatomy and the nude model. This foundation in classical art training has given me the skills and knowledge of my craft necessary for complete freedom of expression.

Exhibitions:

My work has been shown in Toronto area juried shows and exhibitions including the Hummingbird Centre, The Mississauga Arts Centre and Yorkville House.  Many of my paintings and drawings are in private collections in Canada, the United States and Britain.
