| Judy Laliberte lives and paints in Quechee, Vt. She is a member of The Copley Society of Art in Boston, MA and the Cambridge Art Association in Cambridge, MA. She is a signature member of the Vermont Watercolor Society and is active in juried shows throughout New England. Artists Statement I have experimented with various media but I especially love the spontaneity and versatility of watercolor. While my paintings are constantly evolving and my subject matter varies, I find I am drawn to paintings that tell a story, ask a question, or just make you smile. My paintings are a combination of my observations and my imagination. I hope to engage the viewer to participate by inviting them to interpret the painting based on their own personal experience. My work is mostly figurative and I am not so much concerned with depicting reality as I am with capturing a feeling, emotion, or moment in time. I love bold bright color and I use color to set the mood and or emotion. I like to use busy colorful patterns and juxtapose them against each other for interest. While my inspiration can come from anywhere I am always inspired by that blank piece of paper and the anticipation of where the process leads me. |
