Sheila attended Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont where she
majored in Art and History. She then continued her studies at The
Art Student's League in New York, and during this time, she began marketing
and selling her own work. Today, Sheila's oil paintings can
be found in both public and private collections, nationally as well as
overseas.
In the Artist's Words:
"The paintings, sketches, and notes that come from my studio have, for some time now, been involved with the effects of shadow and light on objects in their surroundings. Whether the sub-heading be an Interior, Exterior, or Close-up, the general theme of dark and light continues to thread its way from piece to piece. Shadows can reveal depth, atmosphere, mystery. The cropped compositions emphasize a rediscovery of ordinary objects in my world; a way of learning not to take them for granted. A shadow pattern can tell me more about a partly-seen object, and a stream of light falling across the surfaces of objects on the canvas catches the moment for me, that time, that day."
