| Montgomery Center, Vermont Artist Statement: Instead of measuring my success in money, I have elected to devote the remainder of my life to painting, a talent to which I am more suited. Henry Hank Reilly grew up in the Boston area where he worked for many years in real estate before abandoning the corporate world to settle in Montgomery Center, VT, near the Canadian border. Hank fell in love with the rural beauty of Vermont and its people. Hank has been painting since the late 1970's. Though he studied at the Art Student League in Marblehead, Massachusetts, he is considered a self-taught painter working primarily in oil on board. Hank possesses a classic style reminiscent of the WPA artists of 1930s but also shows an impressionistic influence. His paintings strive to capture the energy of the seasons and the essence of the inherent beauty of northern Vermont. Henry is a member of the Artist-in-Residence Gallery in Enosburg Falls, Vermont. |
